Seasons with the SPO: 29+

Primary Instrument: Violin

Educational Degree/Institution: J.D., Boalt Hall, 1967

Ensemble work: Quartet work, 2nd violin.

Occupation/ interests: Attorney, various sports and bridge.

First memory of classical music: I was four years old when I heard Jasche Heifetz play a classical piece on the radio. This inspired me to take up the violin (as opposed to the piano, which my parents wanted me to learn since my older sister was studying the piano, and we already had one at home!)

Challenges mastering
a technique:
After college graduation, I took lessons for 6-7 years from an elderly lady who taught mostly to children. I learned more from her in 2 years than from 10 years of previous study! (Techniques in vibration, bow technique, fingering, and the like.)

Favorite Composers: Mahler. Listening to his orchestral work is like riding an emotional roller-coaster!
