Simon Woods who came to Seattle in 2011 and Ludovic Morlot, Music Director, have been instrumental in executing and defining a new strategy to take the Seattle Orchestra to the following step in its growth and development. These new ways include an emphasis on making relevant and deeper links to the community while inducing artistic energy and great excitement that always goes along with a new Director.
The previous post of Woods was Chief Executive of the RSNO (Royal Scottish National Orchestra), a very popular and one of the best symphony orchestras in the United Kingdom. Simon Woods achieved enormous success there in fundraising, artistic leadership, marketing, community engagement and public relations. Before working at The Royal Scottish National Orchestra Woods lived and worked as the President of the Symphony Orchestra in New Jersey and as Vice President of The Philadelphia Orchestra. Before that, he lived in London and was a record producer at EMI Classics, where he produced recordings with the worlds best classical ensembles and artists.
Simon Woods together with his family - wife Karin, daughter Isabel and son Barnaby lives in Seattle.
